Geoff Martha, Chairman and CEO of Medtronic, will deliver a keynote address at the Foundation’s 8th International Symposium on Focused Ultrasound.
Medtronic is a global leader in healthcare technology with a mission to use technology to improve human welfare. Martha joined Medtronic in 2011 and led the company’s acquisition and integration of Covidien before stepping into the CEO role in 2020. That same year, FORTUNE Magazine named Medtronic among the top 15 companies for its 2020 “Change the World” list, recognizing its swift efforts during the pandemic. The publication also listed the company on its list of Most Admired Companies in 2021 and 2022.
Martha is recognized as a driven and innovative executive — ranking in Modern Healthcare’s 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare in 2020 and listed as the #1 CEO in healthcare technology by the Healthcare Technology Report in 2021.
He is a member of the Business Roundtable, the Business Council, and the World Economic Forum’s International Business Council. In 2021, he served as co-chair for the Taskforce on Health and Life Sciences for B20, a G20 engagement group. He is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Asia Society, and serves on the Board of Directors for the Minnesota Business Partnership, as well as two Minneapolis-based nonprofit organizations.
Before joining Medtronic, Martha spent 19 years at GE Healthcare – where he was introduced to focused ultrasound technology – and GE Capital.
At the Symposium, Martha will discuss how technology is redefining the way we diagnose, treat, and improve patient outcomes, and the role Medtronic plays in reshaping new standards of care.
“We are honored that Geoff has agreed to participate in our meeting this October,” said Foundation Chairman Neal F. Kassell, MD. “His experience at GE and Medtronic is invaluable for the focused ultrasound industry as we move with increasing urgency toward commercializing this technology.”
The Foundation’s 8th International Symposium on Focused Ultrasound will be held October 23-27, 2022. The event will take place in-person in Bethesda, Maryland, and virtual attendance will also be available.
