Rick Hamilton – Intellectual Property and Patent Strategy
Rick Hamilton has provided intellectual property consultation services in over 25 countries, including with household name corporate giants in automotive, telecommunications, and health-tech sectors, among others. Most recently, he spent five years successfully running the patent strategy for a Fortune 10 healthcare company. He has now joined the Foundation in the role of Managing Director and Chief Technology Officer.
Mr. Hamilton is now scheduling individual meetings with Symposium attendees. In these individualized sessions, he will listen to participants’ needs, and where appropriate, provide guidance on open source vs protection, defending against external threats, and correlating patent strategy with business strategy.

Mark Carol, MD – Procedure Cost, Payment, and Profit Analysis
Dr. Mark Carol is a senior consultant and contributes to reimbursement and regulatory related activities. Prior to the Foundation, Mark was the CEO of Sonacare Medical for six years. During his tenure, the company achieved FDA clearance in the US for its lead focused ultrasound technology for use in the treatment of prostate cancer, C- and CPT codes for the technology and achieved FDA clearance in the US and regulatory authorization in China and in many other countries for its prostate ablation focused ultrasound treatment. Mark led efforts at Sonacare to develop focused ultrasound for the treatment of rectal cancer, kidney cancer, and peripheral vascular disease.
Dr. Carol and the Foundation have created a tool that allows the “true” costs of and payments for a focused ultrasound procedure to be determined and compared against current alternatives. He is available to meet at the Symposium in person with anyone interested in exploring the comparative costs, payments, and profit for a procedure(s).
